The product was sold nationally, internationally and online.

“The light’s LED components could overheat causing the housing to distort, melt or ignite,” the ACCC said.

“The product may ignite and catch on fire causing serious injuries, death or property damage.

“Consumers should immediately stop using the light fitting.”

There are several identifying features of affected batches, including the model number and specifications.

A sticker on the back of affected units will show batch numbers VR2821 and VR3821, as well as the model number 21001/05.

The lights are 7500 Lumens and 240V AC.

If the product is connected by a plug, the ACCC advises that it is immediately removed and returned to the nearest Bunnings Store for a refund.

“If the product is hardwired and requires an electrician to remove it, contact Brilliant Lighting to make arrangements for a service call to remove and replace the product with a similar fixture or to provide a refund,” ACCC said.

You can contact Brilliant Lighting Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm on 1800 879 625, or via email at support@brilliantlighting.com.au.

Bunnings director of merchandise Jen Tucker told 7NEWS.com.au the company is working with suppliers to ensure compliance standards are met.

“Bunnings is working alongside their supplier, Brilliant Lighting, to support their recall of two batches of the Lagos 90W 1200mm Batten Light sold across Australian and New Zealand stores.

“Customers are advised to stop using the Batten Light.

“The safety of our customers and team is our number one priority and we continue to work with our suppliers to ensure the performance and compliance standards for our batten lights are met,” she said.
